NannapaneniVenkatrao  a democrat, who believed in equality  and upliftment of the poor and disadvantaged sections is possible only by means of providing higher education to them resulted in the establishment of VSR College in 1951. Mustering strength in every way from different angles, he constituted The Tenali College Committee, Tenali with people committed for the cause of education. After crossing the infantile hurdles, it began to grow by leaps and bounds and witnessed many fast phases of progress and it became a prestigious institution.

After his sudden demise in 1980, the college is named after him for his yeoman services in the field of education.

VISION  OF THE INSTITUTION
Vision of the institution is to produce competent, committed, socially responsible, human resources by unfolding ‘the perfection already in man’. The vision is in tune with its motto AathmanamVijaniyath’  which means ‘Know Thyself’.

Aims
The institution aims at producing knowledgeable socially responsible, skilled and competent citizens with real human values and abilities to know, to do and lead purposeful lives. It intends to impart knowledge and suitable skills for employment, and train the students for specific employment and self-employment, develop higher cognition abilities, inculcate nationalistic outlook and sense of responsible citizenship in the student community, develop community orientation, participative culture, organizational abilities, leadership qualities, problem solving abilities and sense of religious and communal harmony. The major consideration, since the inception of the college has been to mould students into men of character.

  1. UGC code of the institution in APNA006
  2. Service Rules for Teaching

Non-teaching staff as per UGC Norms and Andhra Pradesh Private Educational Institutional Employees (conduct) Rules, 1985. G.O Ms.No.13, Education (Rules) Dt: 8.01.1986 published in A.P Gazette (Extra part – I, Dt: 15.01.1986).

  1. The UG & PG courses of the institution have relevance to the goals and objectives of the college.

Giving priority to the core values of NAAC, keeping in mind the vision and mission of the college, without losing sight of the feedback obtained from the stakeholders, the institution goes ahead with its perspective plan for institutional development.
The Institution prepares STRATEGIC PLAN   every five years and tries to implement it.
If establishing the college to offer higher education to the downtrodden and other poor sections was the dream of NVR turned into reality, strengthening the college and equipping the students with all the needed skills to face the challenges of the global village and offering educational services to generations together is the goal of the  present Correspondent and Secretary, Sri Nannapaneni Sudhakar. Due to his efforts, autonomy is conferred on the Institution in 2005 and in the same year the college faced NAAC accreditation. Now it is in the third cycle.
