QUALITY PARAMETERS

 


Quality education is the indicator and the parameters that help achieving quality education are  Curricular Aspects.Teaching-Learning and Evaluation. Research, Consultancy and Extension. Infrastructure and Learning Resources. Student Support and Progression. Governance and Leadership and   Innovative Practices.

Curricular Aspects Faculty prepare objectives and learning outcomes for every program and course.  Autonomous colleges have the privilege of revising syllabi to the extent possible, it is being done by the faculty along with justification.Different departments offer Skill-based , employment-oriented certificate courses  of multi-disciplinary nature. Students can opt for any course of their choice.

  Some departments, especially the Department of Commerce organize Invited talks on entrepreneurship, which sow seeds of becoming entrepreneurs. Any newcourse intended to be introduced is discussed in Board of Studies meeting and finally a resolution is taken to that effect. Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability, and Human Values into the curriculum.

Final year science and commerce students have to submit reports on Study projects. Feedback from the stakeholders is taken, analysed and displayed on the website.

Teaching Learning and Evaluation

Basing on the Academic Calendar , every teacher prepares academic schedule and strictly adheres to it.Teachers assess  the learning  levels of the students-offer value addition to  the  advanced  learners and conduct remedial classes for slow learners. Realizing the importance of experiential learning,students are taken on industrial tour , encourage them  to  go for participative learning by making them pairs, cooperative learning etc. Because of Pandemic-19 , parents were not willing to send their children on tours.

For effective teaching-learning process eight e-classrooms, auditorium, seminar hall with projectors and other facilities. provision of Digital library and free internet facility in the library are provided and it proved to be an asset to students to make use of online resources provided through INFLIBNET too.

Academic Calendar provides information on orientation programs, bridge courses, commencement of classwork, working days, examination days, public holidays, optional holidays, the first and last days of instruction, last day for the payment of examination fees etc. In the Staff Council meeting the contents of the calendar are discussed and changes, if any, suggested by them are made.

Every semester two mid exams and one Sem End Exam are conducted completing the syllabus as per the schedule.Grievance Redressal Cell takes care of the complaints of aggrieved students.

Research, Consultancy and Extension

Till the aided lecturers are absorbed into Govt service, three members were research supervisors and about 15 members have PhD out of 24.  Research articles are published in national/International Journals.
Since its inception, the institution is after  social service. NSS and NCC are involved in various extension activities .Pandemic-19 has made many homeless and the entire institution rose to the occasion and helped the needy in every way possible. NVR Trust donated PPE kits worth one lakh .Alumni  distributed clothes and groceries worth Rs 60,000/-

Infrastructure and Learning Resources

VSR &NVR College is located in n ECO friendly environment of  five and half acres. It has wonderful infrastructure  with well-established laboratories, well-ventilated classrooms, 73 years old central library  with about 60,000/ books , Provision of INFLIBNET which gives access to three lakh e-books and thousands of e-journals, eight e-classrooms, one Smart Room, auditorium , which can accommodate about 750 members, Seminar Hall  with seating arrangements for 300 members, Open Air Theatre, where 800 people can sit and watch. Indoor Stadium Multi-Gym, Fitness Centre and Meditation centre  with Roof Pyramid to meditate, Hostels for Men and Women, Cafeteria, Playgrounds , parking space for two wheelers and four wheelers.

Governance, Leadership and Management

Management is at the top and It follows decentralization and participative management Strategic/ Perspective plan. Under the leadership of the Head of the Institution, the faculty shoulder their responsibility.

 Student Support and Progression: Students receive full support from all the other stakeholders as they are the pillars of the institution.

BEST PRACTICES:  Most of the departments have their own best practices and the Institution observes two practices, which are highly useful. The institution in an innovative way changes at least one Best Practice, every year.
