History

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1951; Sri M.V.N Prasada Rao, well known as Hitasri was the first member of the Department. Sarvasri T Nageswarar Rao, B Satayanarayana, P.S.Sastry,N Pardhasar ,C Mruthyunjaya Rao,T S Madhava Rao, P Sambasiva Rao Dr.A Sivarama Prasad, D L Narasimha Rao.P Vishnu Murthy Dr.P Dhakshina Murthy Sri.V Vijaya Kumar,K Pitchaiah, Dr.G Anjaneyulu, A Satyanarayana, B Janakiramaiah,K Rama Krishna Rao Ch Ashok Kuamr, N V Mohan Rao, V Rama Gopal served the department in the capacity as lecturers. Among them two became renowned writers in Telugu. Most of them worked with all commitment and brought fame to the department. Dr N Anjaneyulu, Dr. N Anjaneyulu , Smt.V Krupavani and Sri M Sambasiva Rao are working at present.

Out of these members 5 people successfully worked for Ph.D. Smt Krupavani,M.Phil is on the verge of submitting thesis. Two members received ‘Best Teacher Award’ from the State Govt. Members of the Department wrote nine text books at plus two level and degree level and contributed several articles to news papers and journals. They authored text books for the Telugu Academy in various subjects of Commerce for Inter and Degree courses. Sri.A Satyanarayana retired as the Principal of V S R & N V R COLLEGE Tenali.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Built –up area of the Department is.900 sq.ft .The Department is equipped with computer; printer& internet facility .Commerce students make use of the well equipped computer lab. Departmental library has 500 books, and three journals, which are made available to the students too.

ACTIVITIES

The Department established a good name by conducting many community development programs like

Consultancy service to DWACRA Groups- Free consultancy is offered to DWACRA women on how to maintain books of accounts perfectly and about the various schemes available for them.
The Department takes special interest in creating awareness on the right to vote .To that effect it arranges guest lectures by eminent people like Smt. Lakshmi Prasanna, Tahsildar
Organizes Blood donation camps
Conducts AIDs awareness rallies, visits old age homes and creates awareness on a forestation, rain harvesting, and garbage management.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES OFFERED BY THE DEPARTMENT

Conducts Bridge Course at the beginning of the year
Maintains good library with 500 books and allows students too to make use of them.
It has its own reading room, where students can read without being disturbed.
The department has a computer with internet facility and allows students too to make use of it.

Career Guidance:

As the Convener of JKC , Dr N Anjaneyulu guides students in Career Planning.
Arranges Guest lectures on career counseling.
Organizes Industrial tours.
In the direction of quality education, it conducts Student Seminars, Buzz, Quiz, Study Projects, Group discussions etc.
It assigns live projects to students , so that they will have community orientation and Develop service and also research bent of mind.
