History of the Department

The rare infrastructure and the playgrounds of VSR&NVR College clearly indicate the importance given to sports and games by the management. If Indoor Stadium and Multi Gym are the centre of attraction, the well maintained Volleyball courts, Ball Badminton courts, Hockey field, Tennis court, Handball court, Netball court, Cricket pitch attract the attention of the various educational institutions that lack facilities to play. Some institutions seek permission to allow their students to practice in the sprawling playgrounds.

Mission of the Department:

• To make students understand the importance of games and sports, which bless them with physical fitness
• To encourage students develop sportsmanship, which leads to positive thinking, which in turn makes life a healthy, happy experience.
• To let the students understand that life is a game and one has to put one’s best efforts without bothering about the result, the way to ‘Know Thyself” the motto of our institution.

Community Service:




As one of the aims of the institution is rendering community service, and as Sri S Niranjana Rao, Lecturer in Physical Education is NIS in Volleyball, every year the Department of Physical Education conducts Residential Coaching camps in Volleyball and Handball during summer and about 200 boys and girls get the benefit.
AP District Junior and Senior District Volleyball Championship are being conducted on the campus.
National Integration Camps are also being conducted on the campus.
Outsiders are allowed to play shuttle badminton from 6am to 9 pm.
To inculcate service motive, Blood Donation camps are conducted.
